This has been a four year journey for us as we spent a lot of time researching on what RV's would best meet our needs. We knew we wanted to camp, my husband was a proficient dirt camper, I am a little to princessy for that, although I have done the dirt a few times over the years. No offense to anyone who enjoys that type of camping, but it just wasn't my cup of tea, especially in the middle of the night when I had to step outside and dig a hole for my midnight bathroom visit.
So we started our hunt for something a little less primitive and a little more comfortable. The first year of our journey say us visiting several RV dealerships while entertaining the idea of a travel trailer. We learned we needed a bigger truck to tow the trailer, so we didn't make the purchase. Year two and our thought process went to, well if we need a bigger truck, we should buy a fifth wheel to tow, the upside was more stability when pulling, but the downsize was a more expensive rig. Year three had my husband hinting at the possibility of Class A motorhome. Super beautiful, but I don't think I would ever want to drive a bus and the price point is now more than double what the fifth wheel would have cost us, yikes, I was definitely not a fan. So this year we started looking into Class C and fell in love with a Super C Gulfstream 2008. Had the comfort, stability and price point that made us both happy.
We were fortunate in that our rig had very very low miles for a diesel and was well taken care of on the inside. However, I can't wait to make my own mark on her with some new paint and flooring. Before we do any of that we are going to take her out for a spin and test our skills and her functionality, (we have affectionally nicked named her "Beastie" or simply "The Beast."
