Lessons in Remodeling  a Rental House

Rental properties weren't initially our top priority, but we've gained valuable insights throughout the process. Let me give you a glimpse into the past few months. First, it's important to note that this house was constructed in the 1950s, with the last updates likely made in the 80s. Essentially, this hidden gem had been neglected for 40 years. Fortunately, a new roof was installed last spring, which was a significant advantage. However, the house required extensive attention and care. Our first task was to completely replumb and re-pipe the entire property, addressing all drainage issues. Next, we focused on upgrading the windows and sliding doors. Recognizing the complexity of updating the interiors, we made the choice to hire a skilled contractor to update all the interior, since that was a job we were not comfortable tackling ourselves. Our contractor did not disappoint. I would like to share some before and after photos. We are still in progress, so I hope to post more pictures soon.

OMG, We just bought an RV

For years, my husband and I have been searching for the perfect RV fit for us. We started with travel trailers, then moved on to fifth wheels, and even considered a class A. But it wasn’t until we found our Super Class C that we knew we had found the perfect balance of comfort, convenience, and drivability. Join us on our RV adventures and remodel journey as we personalize our new home on wheels.

Our search for the perfect RV fit began about four years ago when we first started considering travel trailers. We loved the idea of being able to easily tow our living space behind us, but when it came time to make a commitment, we chickened out. We just weren’t ready for the level of commitment that comes with owning a travel trailer.

Next, we turned our attention to fifth wheels. We loved the spaciousness and amenities they offered, but we quickly realized our vehicle would need a significant upgrade to tow one. We weren’t ready for that kind of investment just yet.

My husband then started pushing for a class A RV, but the thought of driving such a large vehicle intimidated me. I wanted something that was comfortable to drive and didn’t require a special license to operate. That’s when we started looking at Super Class Cs. We found a used one that was the perfect size for us and didn’t require any major upgrades to our vehicle.

But now we’ve also taken on the challenge of customizing and remodeling our RV to make it feel like home. So join us on our new adventure and follow us as we begin to make updates and improvements to our new moving home. As we continue to travel and explore, we look forward to making more updates and improvements to our RV. It’s become more than just a vehicle to us – it’s our home on wheels. I will also being posing what we are buying to use in our RV as well as camping and RVing hacks we learn as we go.
